We are now 2 months into this experiment to validate golf live-streaming as a business.
Since going live at Lang Farm on April 17th with our first two streams, here is the latest update on our metrics...
Using total watch time and unique viewer counts, the estimated average viewing time comes out to approximately:
This is an increase of a whopping 44% compared to the same metric from the first 30 days. Something that we could attribute this figure to: the 9th green livestream. We added this action packed angle half way through May.
We added the ability for golfers to request their footage from our 9th green livestream. While it has yet to capture a hole in one, it has been used over 20 times to date!
The growth we're seeing across these key metrics points to a service in high demand.
Compared to the previous 30 days...
148% increase in unique viewers
427% increase in impressions
285% increase in hours watched
Two months isn't enough time to declare victory, but it's enough time to see a clear trend.
Golfers are finding value in live course conditions. They're returning to the streams, spending more time watching, and engaging at a level that exceeds our original expectations. The addition of the 9th green camera has shown us that viewers are drawn to action, and that there is significant opportunity to create even more engaging viewing experiences in the future.
Most importantly, these results suggest that golf livestreaming is more than a novelty. It can help golfers decide when and where to play, give courses a new way to connect with their customers, and create a highly targeted platform for local sponsors to reach an engaged audience.
We're still early, but the data continues to reinforce our belief that live video has a place in the future of golf.
We'll continue sharing our progress as we expand to additional courses, test new camera angles, and explore new ways to enhance the experience for golfers, courses, and sponsors alike.
Thank you to everyone who has tuned in, shared feedback, and supported the experiment so far. The next update should be even more interesting.
Special Thanks
A special thank you to Links at Lang Farm and General Manager Dan Lehman for believing in this idea from day one. Their willingness to be our first partner made this entire experiment possible, and every milestone we've reached so far is a direct result of that support.
We're grateful for the partnership and excited for what's ahead.
