We are in the midst of an expensive epidemic.

Bad parenting, combined with cheap e-moto bikes, have resulted in six-figure damages to golf courses all over the country. It is now a near *daily* occurrence.

In the last month alone, here are just a few of the courses affected:

[Camas Meadows | Camas, Washington](https://www.camasmeadows.com)

More than half the course - 10 different holes - were severely damaged by deep, thick tire tracks. See the carnage in their [Instagram post](https://www.instagram.com/p/DeXd4muAaAJ/) and via the [local news.](https://katu.com/news/local/e-bike-riders-damage-10-holes-at-camas-golf-course-managers-say)

E-moto bike riders damaged multiple greens. [Suspects were caught on video](https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/two-e-bike-riders-damage-greens-santee-golf-course-vandalism/509-978898f3-a442-425c-a550-cea619fcfe73) but there have been no arrests. From CBS 8: "*Workers spent four hours this morning transplanting grass from the practice green to patch the injured area, and golfers were back on the 13th green today. \[General Manager\] noted that understanding the total cost of the repairs is still a work in progress... Aiken expressed frustration over previous efforts to keep people off the greens, mentioning that a chain and warning sign were quickly destroyed by vandals. 'Within a couple of days, vandals broke down all the posts and threw away the cable that we bought.'"*

This one hit especially close to home at fore.tv's flagship course, and made me reconsider our decision to only deploy three livestreams. Sometime during the first week of October, E-moto bike riders vandalized the 3rd green, and used clubs and hole flags to damage other areas of the course. After being notified of the damage, fore.tv reviewed all footage. *Notably, the vandals avoided all areas with a livestream camera in view...🤔*

What makes these incidents even more frustrating is the question of accountability. Riders disappear into the darkness on their Chinese tools of terror, leaving course staff to repair the greens and owners to foot the bill. Without clear footage of who entered, where they rode, and how they left, identifying those responsible becomes harder.

Why, in 2026, are some of the world’s most carefully maintained properties still left with so little camera coverage? Protecting greens should be part of protecting the investment. Well-positioned cameras may help deter vandalism and capture useful evidence, even if they cannot guarantee prevention or an arrest.

This is not just a repair job for the grounds crews who care for these properties. It is their artistry and hard work being destroyed. They deserve more than sympathy and another cleanup. It's time to curb the epidemic with a serious effort to identify those responsible and pursue accountability, including restitution where the law allows.

Course owners and maintenance crews should not be left paying for someone else’s poor parenting decisions.
